Welcome to our Shoup Bay field crew blog!
We are hoping to use this to keep past, present and future field crew members up to date with news from Shoup. This may include extracts from the Outhouse Journal, pictures and anything else we can think of.
The blog also means that you now have no excuse to not keep in touch and write some of those 'only from an outhouse' pearls of wisdom.
Happy 2008!
Alex

Wow, Alex. The dream finally becomes reality.
As we have no plans to install a computer work station in the bathroom, my comments will have to originate from the relatively hygenic environment of my desk.
Today's excitement -- we just learned that several remnant GLACIERS have actually been discovered in Maine!! Possibly leftover chunks of ice from the last ice age, they exist under heavy talus cover on steep, north-facing slopes (combination of little direct sunlight and almost perfect insulation abilities of talus == persistant ice). There's even, apparently, evidence that they are active. Very exciting stuff -- we always knew that Maine was just as cool as Alaska.
I hope we can track down the entire "Shoup family" to alert them that the outhouse journal lives on ...
WOW...glaciers in Maine...thats awesome! I may have to confess that Maine is a kinda cool state.... but it does have the most ridiculous town names in the entire world!
Oh on the hygiene front...also like to say I'm not planning on using my lap top anywhere near the bathroom or any other loo either.
A x
Kinda makes Bournemouth seem rubbish... We have a beach with some sand which was taken from the Sahara or something...
